Vision & Mission
The Vision Resumed. The Mission Renewed.
Birth of the Vision
"Vision is a revelation from God that unveils His purpose for your life—a purpose He ordained before you were born."
For me, that revelation began to unfold in 1990.
I had already been pastoring for approximately 15 years. I loved God, loved His people, and was doing everything I knew to do, yet I had been unable to consistently grow the church beyond 100 members.
I was desperate for answers.
In obedience to the leading of the Lord, I went to ministry school in Tulsa, Oklahoma—a school specifically designed to train and equip men and women called into ministry.
Almost immediately, my life began to change. It was as though I was being born again, again.
Five days a week, three hours a day, I sat in class receiving practical ministry training. After class, I would walk and pray. My prayer was simple:
"Lord, I came to this school out of obedience to You. I have spent 15 years in ministry doing my best as a pastor, but I have not experienced the results I know are possible. When I finish school, it does not matter to me where You send me. I ask only one thing: Whatever You call me to do, I want to be anointed to do it."
Then one day, while I was walking and praying, the Holy Spirit opened my heart to a fresh revelation. I heard these words in my spirit:
"You came to this school out of obedience to Me, but I am sending you back to the state of Arizona. I want you to establish a Ministry Training Institute like the one you are attending."
"I want it designed to equip men and women as apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, teachers, and ministers of helps. Through them, establish churches throughout Arizona, the United States, and the World."
Later, the Lord gave me further direction. I was to complete that year and then transfer to another ministry school in California. Its interactive, dialogue-centered approach became part of the model God would use to shape the school He had placed in my heart.
From that vision came the AZUSA Ministry Training Institute—MTI.
In 1993, we returned to Phoenix, Arizona. We began with 23 students in MTI and approximately 50 members in the church.
From those small beginnings, the vision began to multiply.
Over the years, MTI has trained more than 15,000 students in Arizona, across the United States, and around the world. AZUSA has also helped establish churches and ministries extending around the world, touching thousands of lives.
What began as a revelation became a movement.
The Vision
To reach the hopeless, connect the disconnected, equip the called, and launch life-giving churches that transform communities throughout Arizona, the United States, and the World.
We envision a worldwide family of believers, leaders, ministers, and churches empowered by the Holy Spirit, equipped through practical ministry training, and released to fulfill their God-given purpose.
Our vision is expressed through 4 divine assignments:
Reach the Unsaved
Share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with people who are hopeless, hurting, and far from God, leading them into a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ.
Connect the Unchurched
Create life-giving churches and communities where people can belong, build meaningful relationships, grow spiritually, and become committed followers of Jesus Christ.
Equip the Untrained
Through MTI, identify, train, mentor, and equip those called by God—including apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, teachers, and ministers of helps—to fulfill their calling with biblical knowledge, spiritual power, practical training, and confidence.
Launch New Churches
Establish AZUSA as a reproducible blueprint for planting and developing life-giving churches throughout Arizona, the United States, and the world—churches that grow spiritually, numerically, structurally, and financially.
Our Mission
"Reaching Arizona, the United States, and the World with the Gospel of Jesus Christ."
The Unsaved. The Unchurched. The Untrained.
Our mission is to fulfill the Great Commission by reaching people with Christ, connecting them to His Church, equipping them for their calling, and launching them into their God-given purpose.
We accomplish this mission through:
AZUSA 2.0 — The Vision Resumed
Now, more than three decades after God first spoke this vision, I sense the Lord speaking again:
It is time to resume the original vision.
Not to create a different vision.
Not to abandon what God began.
But to refresh, reactivate, and advance the vision He gave in 1990 for a new generation.
It is as though God has pressed the RESUME button.
What He started is not finished.
What He spoke has not expired.
What He established was never intended to end with one church, one school, one city, or one generation.
AZUSA 2.0 is the continuation of the original assignment.
And through those churches and leaders, we will continue reaching Arizona (and now Nevada), the United States, and the World with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Welcome to AZUSA 2.0
